On open days, RHTS runs a selection of rolling stock from its extensive fleet. There’s plenty of variation with nearly half a mile of track. They’re presently refurbishing part of their rolling stock and performing all of the necessary safety inspections. The Society also owns the Goods Shed and Yard, in addition to the Station buildings and track. This creates a vast underground space while also maintaining the region’s history. For several of our upcoming events, they will use both the interior and outside areas of the facility. The Old Midland Railway Station, built-in 1894 and originally part of the Wellingborough to Higham Ferrers branch line, now houses the Rushden Transport Museum. It features a diverse collection of exhibits linked to the region. With museum professionals on hand, school trips can be arranged. The Rushden Historical Transport Organisation took over the station in 1984, and it now serves as a social club for society. Every day, Members and Guests may enjoy a broad range of Real Ales and other beverages in a welcoming environment. On event days, the bar is frequently accessible to all guests. They are also the 2018 CAMRA Club of the Year in Northamptonshire. Members also get periodic copies of “Olde Wheels,” a magazine filled with Society information. On most open days, RHTS features a Gresley Buffet Coach that serves a variety of hot and cold foods. Tea in the afternoon is a wonderful treat. The carriage may also be rented for private events such as weddings. We have a Gift Shop at the end of the Platform that sells a variety of items for people of all ages. On most Open Days, this shop is open, although it can be opened for other visits upon request.
