Glastonbury Abbey, in Glastonbury, Somerset, is a world-renowned destination that draws visitors from all over the world for its legacy, history, myths and legends, as well as spiritual enrichment. There has been a church on the site for about 1500 years, with evidence of much older occupancy.
They are linked with a degree of legend which no other English abbey could match. Since Medieval times, the abbey has held mythological significance as the earliest Christian foundation in Britain, linked to Joseph of Arimathea and the burial location of King Arthur. It is now a peaceful retreat where visitors can learn the history, visit the 36-acre grounds, and take part in a variety of activities and events.
Around 100,000 people visit the abbey each year from all around the world. The popular membership plan allows residents and frequent tourists to visit the abbey for as little as £1 per week while simultaneously contributing to the abbey’s long-term sustainability through an annual membership fee.
