The International Memorial & Interpretation Centre tells the narrative of Bomber Command as a whole. It includes a memorial with the names of those who died, the Chadwick Centre, which has an exhibition, research, and education facilities, and peace gardens. Based on Lincoln, but covers the entire narrative of Bomber Command. Over a million men and women served or supported Bomber Command throughout WWII. They originated in 60 countries throughout the world and were unified in the efforts to defend the freedom people have today. Aircrew, Ground Crew, Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, Auxiliary Air Transport, Auxiliary Transport Services, NAAFI, and other services were available. The bulk came from the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, with the remainder coming from places as varied as Peru and Germany (many fleeing the Nazi government), as well as other European refugees. The display honours their service and sacrifices.
